The attached papers have been produced suggesting that The Windmill on St James Road can be put forward for redevelopment because it is being used as a restaurant (class 3) rather than a pub (class 4). It is the law that pubs cannot be demolished without planning permission. Although a planning application has not been submitted, it would be good if readers could keep an eye on the pub to ensure no illegal attempts at demolition. If you do see any suspect activity, contact building.control@croydon.gov.ukand your local councillors. There has been a pub on the site since at least 1811, when Thomas Stagg was listed as the licensee in the census taken that year. |
