ECCO has received a community grant of £500 from Croydon Council to improve the planted areas. The first priority is to develop the bed on the eastern corner of Addiscombe Road and Bisenden Road. ECCO planted a lime-tree in this bed in May in memory of local environmental campaigner, Joan Pick.
There is now a proposal to improve the bed by planting the following trees and shrubs:
- Five dogwood trees spaced evenly in the planted area: at the back left, back centre, back right, and at the front inside left and front inside right
- Underplanting of periwinkle, cyclamen coum, cyclamen hederifolium and narcissus tete a tete in two marked beds in the centre foreground of the planted area
Do you have any views on that which is proposed? Please email them to me or post through my letter-box; the contact details are at the end of this post.

I think a border of forget-me-nots would be appropriate for Joan’s memorial.
