The bench on the eastern corner of Blake Road and Addiscombe Road has for some time caused discomfort to adjacent occupiers. The main problem is that it attracts late night and early morning users who sit there to talk or sometimes drink and talk, thereby disturbing those asleep or trying to get to sleep. These users often leave behind cans, bottles and takeaway wrappers.
The Council accept that there is a problem and are willing to relocate the bench.
Please email or phone Jerry (contact details below) if either:
(a) you have a view for or against the proposal to relocate the bench; and/or
(b) you wish to suggest a place where the bench might be relocated where its use would be wholly positive for the community.

I’m not going to lie, I get it. But more people use it than you realise. It is used as a meeting point for travellers arriving from East Croydon Station. (Which you would know, if you walk past it regularly). I love that bench & my mum used to sit us on it as kids back in the mid 70s, when it was outside Knollys House. (Above the subway). Could it be moved back there?

Hi, Victoria. This was posted some years ago and plans to move the bench have been quietly dropped. Appreciate that people with mobility problems probably also welcome somewhere to rest along this route.
