Croydon are introducing blanket licences for private landlords which will be hefty. This is to combat rouge landlords in problem areas. Unfortunately some of the burden of additional costs with fees will undoubtedly be passed onto tenants in Croydon.
If rents go up, families and individuals potentially will have no choice but to leave the community including uprooting children from local schools and relocate further out.
There is a judicial review hearing on 4th August. This has had success in other London boroughs when people have put their feeling forward.
