It cannot have escaped anyone that as far as business representation goes, it’s the land owners and developers that dominate the dialogue in Croydon.
East Croydon businesses seem to be struggling as a consequence of;
- Long standing vacant sites along Cherry Orchard Road
- The impact of traffic and traffic management decisions
- An apparent decision by the Council to allow the retail area of Cherry Orchard Road and Lower Addiscombe Road to “wither on the vine” in favour of the Addiscombe Urban Retail Area, which has received vast sums of money.
Without a strong clear voice to represent it, the East Croydon business community is likely to experience more of the same. Residential community representatives, no matter how well meaning, can ever effectively represent businesses.
However, this website is intended to be a platform for everyone in the community including businesses. So if local businesses would like a forum to debate the issues, and to engage with the wider community please respond with your ideas.
