Following the announcement that CALAT will no longer be able to provide classes in Croydon Clocktower, it has come to light that Croydon Council are considering outsourcing adult education in the borough. Daniel Jones has started a petition asking Croydon Council to reconsider “We the undersigned petition Croydon Council to think again and scrap about proposals to outsource CALAT and prevent any cuts and harm to the service provided as a result of the proposals. Croydon Adult Learning and Training (CALAT) has, for years, provided the people of Croydon with reasonably priced high quality education. The service is more than just a tool for upskilling people for the jobs market, it provides an outlet for all people of Croydon and beyond to learn, develop and grow themselves through accessible classes in a rage of artistic, linguistic, cultural and creative pursuits. Any attempt to cut, decrease or dimish the services is an act of vandalism which will only harm the people of this town.”
