Croydon’s pubs are being abandoned so Phoebe and her dad Roger retrace their history through a pub crawl of photos, conversations, and memories. Their film, ‘(Pub)lic House,’ blends music, poetry and interviews, advocating for pubs as community spaces. Roger will host a Blues Gig ‘When Hendrix Played the Star’ for 1hr and a half after so stick around.

Roger recalls that “The Green Dragon is a repurposed commercial bank, renamed for the original Green Dragon, an 1822 pub a few doors along the High Street which we lost in 1959 to make way for more cars in the High Street. If they knocked down our 1832 pub at the entrance to what was once Croydon Common – Fantsay! – Do you think in 20 years we’d have a former chicken shop or convenience store being repurposed under our Pub’s name, when we realise what we’ve lost? Remaining Croydon Community Hubs should be treasured & protected.”
