The Glamorgan is probably the oldest building in the ECCO area, constructed c1835. At the time, the area was dominated by the mansions of Brickwood House on Addiscombe Road and Leslie Lodge on what is now Lower Addiscombe Road. After the enclosure of Croydon Common in 1801, a small settlement housing ordinary people grew up at the site of one of the former gates to the Common (where Cross Road meets Cherry Orchard Road today). For most of its history, the pub was called the Horse & Groom. Renamed The Grouse and Claret in 1993 , it gained a name for hosting live jazz sessions. Finally renamed The Glamorgan, it closed down on 18 November 2016.
