Funding had been granted for planting of 47 trees in Oval Road this year. Plots for the trees have been identified. The planting will take place in the Autumn.
This will be one of the most important tree-planting projects in a single residential road ever undertaken in Croydon. As well as making Oval Road a more green and pleasant thoroughfare, the trees will offset some of the air pollution which blights the district.
Helen Lomasney, the Council’s Trees Officer who is retiring in May, deserves thanks and credit for taking this project forward during a very difficult period.
