Help tidy up The Boulevard, Addiscombe Road, 7.15pm Tuesday 24 September @GGCroydon #eastcroydon

GoodGymOct18

East Croydon weeders and hackers – this is news of the year’s fourth opportunity to help tame The Boulevard with the Goodgym team.

A reminder to readers:  Goodgym (a charity which combines community service with keeping fit) has for several years helped to keep The Boulevard in shape.   The Boulevard was the original name of the stretch of the Addiscombe Road running from Bisenden Road to East Croydon Station which has planted areas on the edge of the footway.  These are the last remains of the Brickwood estate that lay to the north of the road from the late 18th to early 20th century.

The meeting point will be the planted areas at the junction of Brickwood Road and Addiscombe Road.

Goodgym members will arrive at about 7.15 pm and put in an hour’s hard shift removing litter, weeds and overgrowth of shrubs from the planted areas.   They will not intentionally destroy flowers and shrubs,   which is more than can be said in relation to the recent heavy-handed approach of the Council’s maintenance team.    I have received negative feedback from residents about this, which I have communicated to and will discuss further with senior Council officers.

Community members and friends are respectfully invited to assist in Goodgym’s endeavours to make East Croydon tidier.   Please come and join them.

Please bring loppers/shears if you have them.   If you do not,  please still come – spare loppers and shears will be available.

PLEASE MAKE A NOTE IN YOUR DIARY!
