Goalball is great fun, good exercise, and social. This friendly group welcomes new players of any age or ability. They play once a fortnight at The Sir Philip Game Centre, 38 Moreland Avenue, Croydon, CR0 6EA.
Goalball is an exciting, indoor, 3-aside team sport, of attack and defend – with a unique twist! The ball contains internal bells so players are able to track its movement by its sound. The court is marked out with tactile lines so players can feel where they are. It is a truly inclusive sport as fully sighted players can also play alongside those with visual impairment as all of the players wear eyeshades so that nobody can see the ball. Players, therefore, have to rely entirely on their other senses. It is suitable for all ages and abilities
The idea of the game is quite simply to score goals by bowling the ball along the floor, past the opposing team.
