Dear East Croydon Community
Following our presentation to Croydon Council’s Planning Committee last Thursday, the Croydon Partnership would like to invite you to a public consultation presenting our updated plans for the £1.4 billion regeneration of Croydon’s Whitgift Centre and the former Allders department store.
The event is taking place in our consultation unit on the ground floor of The Whitgift Centre (just inside the main entrance by W H Smith) and is open to the public on Thursday 12 May (2pm to 8pm), Friday 13 May (11am to 6pm), Saturday 14 May (11am to 5pm) and Sunday 15 May (11am to 5pm). We have sent an invitation leaflet to over 140,000 homes and businesses in and around CroydDetails of Public Consultation Announced for the Croydon Partnership’s Updated Planson, but we have attached a copy to this email for you to forward on to local residents, businesses and community organisations who may be interested in coming along who might wish to attend.
Westfield and Hammerson created the Croydon Partnership to redevelop the Whitgift Centre into a new state-of-the-art shopping and leisure destination in Croydon. We believe that our £1.4 billion redevelopment is vital for the future of the town by transforming Croydon’s retail centre, creating 5,000 new jobs and helping unlock Croydon’s potential so that it can once again become the leading retail destination in South London.
While the vast majority of our updated plans remain the same as before, we have made some enhancements which include: an additional level of retail; a new Marks & Spencer store; the possibility of more homes; improved parking, access and environment.
We look forward to seeing you at our public consultation to discuss how the Croydon Partnership’s plans will benefit the whole borough and its residents.
