Central Croydon Election Question Time on April 23rd

Dear residents’ and community groups,

The South Croydon Community Association (which is actually quite central) has organised a Question Time with the Central Croydon candidates from the five main parties. It will take place at Croydon College at 6.30pm on Thursday 23rd April. The college has a capacity of 200+ and we hope to get a good turn out from people across the borough (primarily in Central Croydon).

We’d particularly like to encourage members of other community and common interest groups in Croydon to attend.

We see it as an opportunity to promote community groups to residents and our local politicians. Perhaps someone will come up with an interesting question for the panel about “community” ?

We also intend to display a rolling slide show while people are waiting for the event to start. We’ll be including some photos of some of the events that the SCCA has been involved in, but it’d be great to include a slide or two from other organisations. Let me know if that’s of interest and we can work out how best to do it.

Full information, including how to register, is below.

Thanks a lot, John Clingan.

SCCA Secretary.

SCCA Central Croydon Question Time

6.30 – 8.30pm on Thursday 23rd April at Croydon College

  • Will you be voting in the General Election on Thursday 7 May?
  • Have you decided who will receive your support?
  • Which local, national and international issues concern you most?
  • Do you feel that they are receiving sufficient attention?

The South Croydon Community Association (SCCA) believes that there is insufficient opportunity for public, face to face, political debate on matters that affect all our lives.

On Thursday 23 April – just two weeks before the election – the SCCA is holding an “Election Question Time” at Croydon College from 6.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m. (Doors open at 6.00 p.m.).

The five parliamentary candidates for Central Croydon have agreed to be on the panel and answer questions from the audience.

  • Gavin Barwell (Conservative)
  • Esther Sutton (Green)
  • Sarah Jones (Labour)
  • James Fearnley (Liberal Democrat)
  • Peter Staveley (UKIP)

The Question Time will be chaired by Nicolina Andall. Mrs Andall was educated at Old Palace Girls School and is a long standing Croydon resident.  She is a solicitor and Chair of the Croydon Chamber of Commerce.

To register to join the debate, visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/scca-question-time-registration-15888910158

Once registered, you will be invited to submit two questions. If your question is selected, you can pose it to the panel on the night.
