Have you say about whether John Wood School & Nursery, Dartnell Road should have Healthy School Streets status by Tuesday, 28 May @yourcroydon

Healthy School Streets are streets that are reserved for walkers and cyclists during the start and end of the school day, to make it easier for families to travel safely to and from school.

Vehicles are not allowed to enter Healthy School Streets at certain hours, apart from a few exceptions such as residents and emergency services.

The Healthy School Streets scheme is a response to concerns about busy roads around schools during drop-off and pick-up times. Many parents say they drive their children to school to avoid walking in busy traffic, which in turn creates even busier roads.

Healthy School Streets make it safer for children and families to walk or cycle to school, which in turn means:

  • reduced traffic
  • easier parking for residents
  • healthier families
  • less air pollution around schools
  • quieter neighbourhoods
