Help improve the Bisenden Bed 11am-12.30pm Saturday, 6 December near the corner of Addiscombe Road & Bisenden Road #croydon

The front of the Bisenden bed (planted in memory of local environmental campaigner Joan Pick) has provided much life and colour this year.  Local residents and casual passers-by have noted it with great pleasure.

Please join the work session on Saturday (6 December) to take the project forward.  It starts at 11 and ends at 12.30.  Come for part of the time if you can’t spare 90 minutes.  The session will go ahead even if there is a little rain.

Volunteers are welcome to come back to 6 Blake Road (home of Jerry Fitzpatrick) for tea,  coffee and cake – 12.30-1.15.

As ever,  equipment will be provided,  Many thanks to Tracey Bellamy,  the Council officer who supports volunteer clean and green work.

The work will entail:

  1. Clearing the leaves and weeds between front wall and pavement
  2. Cutting back the grass in the left-hand corner facing the tram tracks
  3. Planting out some winter and early spring cover, and seeds
  4. Cutting a 20 cm path in the grass between the Joan Pick tree and the bed and all round the back of the ‘fence’ to the two corners meeting the wall
