Last weekend, Yvonne Tran painted the first outlines of the some of the flowers to be included in a mural on the low concrete wall along Billinton Hill leading up to East Croydon Station. Weather permitting, work will continue on the outlines this weekend.
The project, organised by Yvonne and Ellie Sandover, is funded by The Royal Gardens of Kew and Govia Thameslink Railways. It is being supported by Steve Fleming, the manager of East Croydon Station and Max Kenna of East Croydon Community Organisation (ECCO)
The wild flower pictured below is White Campion (Silene latifolia). It is an archaeotype, introduced into Britain after 4000BC but before 1500AD.
