Goodgym are back for their final community tidy-up of the year. Goodgym members will put in about 50 minutes hard shift removing litter, ivy, weeds and overgrowth of shrubs from the planted areas. They will not intentionally destroy flowers and shrubs.
In addition, there may be work in the Joan Pick legacy bed. Andrea Perry continues to renew the borders and plant flowers and shrubs. These have delighted residents throughout the year. Many many thanks to Andrea.
At the last session on 8 July, Goodgym volunteers and local residents did gardening on the legacy bed, supervised by Andrea. There was weeding of other beds and a litter-pick. In all, 23 bags were filled. As a surprise bonus, Russel and Elaine of Chisholm Road planted a maple tree in the legacy bed. (However, some residents have suggested it may be a sycamore. I will ask the Council to confirm.)
Community members and friends are respectfully invited to assist in Goodgym’s endeavours to make East Croydon tidier. Please come and join them. Please feel free to spread details on social media.
Loppers and shears will be available, as well as litter-picks, protective gloves, hi-vis jackets and much more. Do bring your own equipment if you have it.
I shall be there and look forward to seeing ECCO friends and neighbours, and indeed anyone from any area willing to get out on what is likely to be a dry and mild March evening and join the community effort.
