CORRECTION Have your say about the renewal of the Public Space Protection Order in Croydon town centre before 11.59pm on Sunday, 27 July #croydon

The current Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for the town centre is due to expire in November 2025. The PSPO gives the police extra powers to tackle anti-social behaviours, such as street drinking, urinating in public and noise. Anyone who refuses to stop such activities in the area can be arrested or fined.

The initial boundary of the PSPO was expanded to include Cherry Orchard Road and the streets to the west of it in 2022. This was at the request of local councillors alarmed by the rise of anti-social behaviour in that area. If you feel that this is a significant issue in your neighbourhood, you can suggests that the PSPO boundary is further expanded when you complete the survey.

The proposal and feedback from the consultation will go to Croydon Cabinet for a decision on the renewal of the PSPO in September 2025.

  1. we need to extend this. But more importantly the rules need to be enforced. I hear too often of folk who feel unsafe in the centre and around East Croydon station.

    no begging, rough sleeping, drug and alcohol use. No drug dealing. The antisocial behaviour is dragging the area down. Enough is enough.
