On Saturday 29th March, there will be a partial solar eclipse when the moon gets between us and the sun. It won’t block the sun completely, but it is still worth looking at.
It is dangerous to look at the sun without the correct safety filters but, Croydon Astronomical Society will provide an opportunity for you to look at this event without danger.
They will be in Addiscombe Recreation Ground (between Bingham Road and Northampton Road) from 10.15 – 11.30am – at the northwest corner, near the children’s play area and just downhill from the tennis courts.
You can borrow one of their safety glasses or look through a filtered telescope. Totally free and no need to book. But please check the weather first – they won’t be there if it is cloudy.
