Goodgym paid their third visit of the year to The Boulevard on 1 October. The worst weather in eight years of Goodgym visits – the rain pouring from the sky for most of the afternoon. Rain or no rain – the show had to go on. True, the numbers were down: only three Goodgym volunteers. Huge respect for those three. They were joined by three hardy ECCO members.
The six of them really put their backs into the task, clearing litter and removing ivy and weeds from the planted areas of The Boulevard, particularly focusing on the bed at the western junction of Bisenden Road and Addiscombe Road. They filled 16 bags, which will be taken away by Veolia. That is 2.8 bags – a great effort!
The flowers and shrubs which have been planted in the Joan Pick legacy bed still flourish. There will be a weeding and planting party in mid-November led by Andrea Perry – watch this space. In the new year, we hope to raise funds to re-insert the plaque that was vandalised during the summer.
The next Goodgym visit to The Boulevard will take place on Tuesday 10 December. More information about GoodGym Croydon https://www.goodgym.org/v3/areas/croydon/reports
