Traffic issues have been a major bone of contention locally over the last decade. They appear to trigger stronger feelings than major national and international issues.
Croydon Council and Transport for London are seeking possible alternatives to the current configuration of our local traffic. The affected area is the streets bounded by Cherry Orchard Road, Lower Addiscombe Road, Shirley Road and Addiscombe Road.
East Croydon Community Organisation are looking for a representative who lives or works in the area bounded by Lower Addiscombe Road, Tunstall Road, Addiscombe Road and the railway line to central London. They should meet the following brief:
- Strong interest in co-designing a local traffic scheme
- Understanding of how the current traffic flow situation has come about & why some wish to alter it
- Willingness to understand different points of view about whether or not the current system needs to be changed, and – if so – how it might be changed
- Willingness to read the detailed briefings provided by Croydon Council & evaluate the data provided
- Availability to attend the two co-design sessions on the afternoons of 20 and 27 January (probably 1-4 pm but subject to confirmation) to be held at a local venue (St Mildred Hall, Bingham Road)
- Sensitivity to the concerns of residents of the main north to south and south to north access roads
Please let me know if you would like to represent ECCO at the workshops.
