Tony Fairweather will be talking about his book Twenty-Eight Pounds Ten Shillings. It is 1948 and a call has gone out to the British Empire for volunteers to help rebuild the Britain after the war. Young men and woman from across the Caribbean were quick to respond, paying the considerable sum of £28 10/- to board the HMS Empire Windrush- the ‘Ship of Dreams’ that would take them to their new lives.
