Greystar, the owners of One Lansdowne Road (including Voyager House, The Lansdowne Hotel and Marco Polo House) have appointed a demolition contractor, Erith, to clear the site. Demolition is scheduled to take eight months, including placing hoarding around the site and stripping out the interiors before demolishing the outsides of the buildings
They have also submitted a new planning application for the redevelopment of the site to Croydon Council ref: 23/02689/FUL which can be viewed on the planning register https://publicaccess3.croydon.gov.uk/online-applications/search.do?action=simple&searchType=Application
This reflects the results of community consultation. The changes include
- Reducing the heights of the building from 68 to 47 storeys and 41 to 35 storeys. These will include 783 dwelling units, flexible workspace and a small retailer (such as a bakery, sandwich or coffee shop).
- Replacing an 11-storey link building with a public square that includes trees, other plants and a play trail
- Making a safer link to the station with new CCTV and lighting
- Adding a contribution towards a new street-level crossing across Wellesley Road
You can find more information about their proposals here https://onelansdowne.co.uk
Hopefully the mosaics in front of Voyager House will be preserved
