Engineering workers, at East Kilbride’s Rolls Royce factory, showed their support for the people of Chile by refusing to repair jet engines from the Hawker Hunter fighters used against Chile’s democratically-elected President Allende. Resisting pressure to end their action, the boycott lasted four years, but the Scottish workers never truly knew what its impact had been in Chile.
