Tasks will mostly be around the school exit and bridge. They include
– rescuing the honeysuckle plants near the school exit.
– cutting back the undergrowth on the Tram stop steps.
– cutting back evasive plants along the path.
Volunteers are also needed to work on the wild flower arc in the community garden. This was previously the coal yard for the steam trains and there is a coal layer is just below the grass. The new raised bed will help to keep grass and weeds out of the bed and give more depth for the flowers to grow in. It is hoped to complete this before Apple Day (subject to the weather). If you would like to help with this please get in touch. with the Friends of Addiscombe Railway Park.
The Apple Day event will be held on Sunday 17th September near the community garden between 2pm and 5pm. It is free and everyone is welcome.
The CHASE residents group will also be present again. It is hoped that they will be able to unveil a new Park Bench in memory of their previous Chairman.
