Talk by Jessica Bryan, Project Officer of Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA). Their excavations at Lion Green Road began in 2015, with four further phases taking place in 2016, 2020, 2021 and 2022. These modern excavations follow archaeological work undertaken in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Burials of probable Roman and Saxon date were uncovered during both the antiquarian and modern excavations. This talk will provide a brief history of work on the site, the individuals involved and their findings. This will be combined with the results of the recent MOLA excavations, highlighting how modern techniques can add to the archaeological record and build on previous interpretations.
