Croydon Council have planted new street trees near
- 82 Addiscombe Court Road
- Corner of Cedar Road & Lebanon Road
- 16 Chisholm Road
- 12,19 & 82 Lebanon Road
- 91, 117 & 121 Tunstall Road
If you live close to one of the trees, please can you water it through its feeding hose. This year we have had the driest February for 30 years https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/mar/01/driest-february-england-signals-drought-ahead-experts
Young trees need to be watered frequently for the first few years of their life. So it would also be worth watering those planted in the last couple of years that still have their wood supports in place. Given the financial problems of Croydon Council, we cannot be sure of any of these trees being replaced should they die of thirst.
Street trees help reduce heat in their vicinity. As you can see from the map below, the ECCO area has some of the hottest streets in the UK. Lebanon Road is at the centre of the map.
