Volunteers needed to help GoodGym tidy The Boulevard, 7.20 – 8.10pm, Tuesday 7 March, meet at the corner of Bisenden Road & Addiscombe Road @GGCroydon @Addiscombe Park @ParkHillFriends @LloydParkCRO

GoodGym return on 7 March for their first community tidy-up of the year.  GoodGym is a charity which combines community service with keeping fit. For several years, their members have helped keep The Boulevard in shape.   The Boulevard was the name given, in the early 20th century, to the stretch of Addiscombe Road from Bisenden Road to East Croydon Station which has planted areas on the edge of the footway.  The original trees are likely to have been those growing along the borders of the Brickwood Estate,  before the house was demolished in 1908 and the land developed into the streets we know today.

GoodGym members will put in about 50 minutes hard shift removing litter, ivy, weeds and overgrowth of shrubs from the planted areas.   They will not intentionally destroy flowers and shrubs.  Community members and friends are respectfully invited to assist in GoodGym’s endeavours to make East Croydon tidier.   Please come and join them.   Please feel free to spread details on social media.

Loppers and shears will be available,  as well as litter-picks,  protective gloves, hi-vis jackets and much more.  Do bring your own equipment if you have it.  Conroy Barnett is once again leading the GoodGym team.   I shall be there and look forward to seeing ECCO friends and neighbours, and indeed anyone from any area willing to get out on a cool March evening and join the community effort.

Please make a note in your diary for Tuesday 7 March and meet us at the corner of Bisenden Road & Addiscombe Road at 7.20pm.
