Funding to improve the health of local roads @yourcroydon

In 2022-23 and the following two financial years, Transport for London is funding projects across the London boroughs to make neighbourhoods become safer and healthier.   Croydon Council has been awarded £40,000 to fund a project in the current financial year in the category of Safer Corridors and Neighbourhoods.   This funding is to be used in the area bounded by Cherry Orchard Road, Lower Addiscombe Road, Shirley Road and Addiscombe Road, and the area would potentially be designated a Healthy Streets zone.   At the Croydon Cabinet meeting on 25 January, it transpired that the funding has not yet been utilised.   The funding is meant to be utilised by 5 April 2023.

The Council has not yet asked residents of the Addiscombe and East Croydon area for their views on how the local funding should be applied.  If the Council itself has a specific plan for the use of the £40,000, it hasn’t shared that plan with residents.

ECCO will be seeking more information from the Council on what it plans to do with the TFL funding, and will report back to ECCO members when the information is provided.
