Cherry Orchard Garden centre is the only one within walking distance of the ECCO area. Staffed largely by people with learning disabilities on a voluntary basis, it is open 9.30am – 3pm Monday to Friday. Croydon Council is proposing to close the garden centre https://democracy.croydon.gov.uk/documents/s41632/07%20Report%20MTFS%20Update.pdf
Local resident, Charles Barber, has set up an online petition to protest against the proposed closure. Click here to sign it https://www.change.org/p/save-cherry-orchard-garden-centre
Darren, who works at the garden centre, has also started a paper petition, which you can sign at the centre itself and at many of the businesses in the area.
You can also support the garden centre by going there and buying some of their stock. Sadly they have not be able to purchase Christmas trees for re-sale this year, but there are plenty of other types of plants for sale.
You may also wish to let your ward councillor know how you feel about the closure. Their contact details can be found on this webpage https://democracy.croydon.gov.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx?FN=WARD&VW=TABLE&PIC=1. The email addresses for the Addiscombe West Councillors, who serve the ECCO area, are
